Campania is the shin of the Italian boot. It is the second largest region in Italy. Because it's so far south, I know not propose to be on tour in the summer heat. If you go to visit the capital, Naples, as seen in the Naples and die, "the upper class playground of Sorrento and Pompeii, frozen in time with the eruption of Vesuvius, two thousand years ago. Campania claims to the land of pasta and pizza. We have some pizza down.
For starters, some people like to Tortiera Alici(Damp-fried anchovies), which contain pecorino cheese, olive oil, breadcrumbs and spices. My mouth is watering. It still waters at the thought of the wine, Fiano di Avellino DOCG Campania, that is one of my favorite Italian whites. Since you're probably not ready for a relatively expensive bottle on the first course we have other Fiano pairing suggestions below. Other wines pair with this dish include Frascati DOC from Lazio, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo DOC from Abruzzi andVernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG from Tuscany.
Campania is a great place for pizza. The elections are Pizza Margherita (Pizza with mozzarella and tomatoes),) Pizza Marinara (pizza with tomato, garlic and oregano) or a cheeseless Pizza Napoletana (Neapolitan pizza. Pair the Margherita with a red or rosé from Bardolino Veneto or the Fiano di Avellino DOCG. Pairing decisions for the marinara include Aversa DOC from Campania (it can be hard to find) and Colli Albani from Lazio. CoupleThe Napoletana DOC Aversa and Fiano di Avellino DOCG.
Our next food proposal is not as popular as pizza. Polipo alla Luciana (Octopus alla Luciana) requires a lot of work. You need the tender octopus and after you stick it in the oven with tomatoes, olive oil, parsley, salt, pepper, and you should really see them regularly, so it does not stick to the bottom. On the other hand, this dish goes well with a variety of white wines, some of which are elevated. Recommended wines are Greco di Tufo DOCG from Campania (the grapes are originally from Greece), Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC of the marks (this is the most common Verdicchio), DOCG Vermentino di Gallura in Sardinia and Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG from Tuscany.
Time for dessert. My local Italian grocery store sells ready-Sfogliatella Riccia (Shell-shaped Flaky Ricotta) biscuits, and they are delicious. When I see this beautiful cake my guess is that they make hard to find. Recommended> Wine pairings, the Tuscan dessert wine Moscadello di Montalcino, Vin Santo del Chianti DOC and sold in small bottles.
